JACKSON TWP — A Seneca Valley High School senior landed in legal trouble after allegedly trying to cheat on a school drug test in June.

Jacob A. Shaffer, 18, of Cranberry Township on July 26 waived to court charges of furnishing drug-free urine and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

Township police filed charges in June after school officials discovered that Shaffer allegedly attempted to cheat on a drug test May 3.

A school resource officer was called to interview Shaffer after a nurse allegedly discovered that his urine sample was the wrong temperature to be legitimate, according to court records.

His parents were called, and he provided a written statement in which he allegedly admitted to concealing clean urine in a bottle in his backpack.

Officers also searched his car and allegedly found a metal cylinder that contained cocaine residue.

He is free on a nonmonetary bond.
