Nancy J. (Peterman) Long, born Aug. 23, 1931, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.

She was the wife of the late William M. Long Sr., whom she married in Penn Hills on June 22, 1951; daughter of the late Robert J. Peterman and Helen Hayes Peterman; and sister of the late Robert E. Peterman, Helen Hershey and infant brother, Michael. She was the last of her immediate family.

Nancy owned and operated Nancy Long’s Drapery business in Penn Hills for 15 years. She grew up in Penn Hills and lived there most of her life. She also lived in Flinton and Chicora, Pa.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Costa, of Pittsburgh; son, William Jr. (Janet), of Chicora; and daughters, Sharon (Karl) Earnhart, of Longview, Texas, Margie Long, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Patricia (Michael) Sims, of Penn Hills. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

Nancy belonged to Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, was a member of the Legion of Mary and Christian Mothers, was a Eucharistic minister and sang in the choir.

LONG — Friends of Nancy J. (Peterman) Long, who died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Chicora. Lunch will be provided after the Mass at church.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at St. Augustine Cemetery in Dysart, Pa.

Either flowers or memorial contributions are welcome. If memorial contributions, Nancy would prefer contributions to be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
