State police are investigating a hit-and-run involving three vehicles that caused a head-on crash Sept. 20 in Jefferson Township, according to a news release Friday, Sept. 25.

The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. Sept. 20 near the intersection of North Pike and Bonniebrook roads, police said.

The driver of an unknown vehicle was traveling on North Pike Road when a Ford Escape merged in front of it. Police said the merge forced the unknown vehicle to swerve into the opposite lane and strike another vehicle.

Police said both the unknown vehicle and the Ford Escape fled the scene. The driver of the third vehicle, a Nissan Versa, called police.
