A motorcycle passenger was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Franklin Township, according to a Friday news release.

The crash occurred just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of New Castle Road and Golden Lane in Franklin Township.

State police said Elaine K. Ray, 63, of New Castle, was the passenger of a Honda Goldwing driven by Darrell J. Ray, 62, of New Castle, that struck a parked Honda HRV.

Elaine Ray was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh by Butler Ambulance Service with suspected minor injuries. Police said Darrell Ray also sustained suspected minor injuries but declined transport.

Police said the brakes of the motorcycle locked up when attempting to slow down and the driver and passenger were ejected. The motorcycle then crossed into the opposite lane and struck the HRV, which was legally parked and unoccupied, police said.
