Dispute lands woman in jail
A Mars woman is behind bars after allegedly strangling her girlfriend.
Stephanie M. O'Malley, 26, was arrested Saturday following an investigation by Butler City Police into a domestic dispute early Friday at a home on Heim Avenue in Butler.
O'Malley was arraigned Saturday on charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor simple assault. She was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail, which she had not posted as of Monday.According to charging documents, police responded to the home around 1:51 a.m. Friday and spoke with O'Malley's girlfriend.“(She) stated that her girlfriend, Stephanie O'Malley, had physically attacked her by biting her finger, smearing (fecal matter) on her, grabbing her throat and throwing a fire extinguisher at her,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.Police said the girlfriend said O'Malley choked her to the point of not being able to breathe.“(The girlfriend) displayed signs of physical injury, such as a black eye, cuts on her fingers and fecal matter smeared on her legs and hair,” police said.Police said there were signs of a struggle at the home and feces on the floor.Police said they were unable to make contact with O'Malley on Friday.However, after her arrest Saturday, O'Malley additionally was arraigned on a separate set of charges, including two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.A preliminary hearing in the strangulation case has not been set, but will be before District Judge William Fullerton in Butler.In the drug case, a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 15 before District Judge Wayne Seibel.
