CRANBERRY TWP — Police say a father-and-son duo tried making their getaway after stealing from Walmart.

Jordan Filsinger, 25, of Avalon and Patrick J. Filsinger, 49, of Pittsburgh allegedly stole about $740 worth of items and led police on a high-speed chase on the night of Dec. 21.

They waived their felony charges to county court Friday.

Police reports state Patrick Filsinger walked into Walmart around 1:40 a.m. and loaded a shopping cart with numerous items, including two LED televisions, two Blu-ray disc players, a PlayStation 4 headset and two 12-packs of soda.

He had a suspended driver’s license and was twice convicted of retail theft.

Video surveillance in the store showed Filsinger walking out of the store with the cart through the lawn and garden center’s emergency exit and loaded the items in the duo’s Chevrolet Cavalier.

Jordan Filsinger then took off at a “high rate of speed” onto Nicklas Drive, according to police. He also had a suspended license and was twice convicted of retail theft. There were two active warrants out for him.

The car then turned onto Route 19 southbound and “swerved erratically” several times before stopping past the stop bar at the intersection between routes 19 and 228.

According to documents, when the signal turned green, the car accelerated “rapidly,” turning across three lanes of traffic and merging onto Interstate 79 southbound.

Despite attempts to stop them, the Filsingers’ Cavalier continued onto the interstate in excess of 90 mph.

Township police contacted Butler to notify state police and Allegheny County and then stopped pursuing the vehicle at the Camp Horne Road exit on Interstate 279 southbound due to the high speeds and the known identity of both Filsinger’s, the report states.

The duo were later pursued by Ross Township police, but eluded them as well.

Warrants were issued for both afterward.

Township police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said Jordan Filsinger was in Allegheny County jail at the time his warrant was served and Patrick Filsinger turned himself in.

They were both charged on Jan. 6.

Jordan Filsinger faces felony charges of retail theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit retail theft and fleeing police. He also faces lesser charges of unlawful driving.

His bail is set at $10,000.

Patrick Filsinger also faces felony charges, including two counts of conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property. He had two charges withdrawn — a felony charge of retail theft and a misdemeanor charge of permitting fleeing from police.

He was released on his own recognizance.

Both will be arraigned in county court on March 21 at the same time.
