Aiden Kern’s huge night ends with game-winning PAT in OT win for Moniteau: Week 5 football highlights
Aiden Kern caught three passes for 163 yards. Two of those receptions ended in the end zone.
But the receiver’s biggest play of the night came with his foot, not his hands.
Kern kicked the game-winning PAT in overtime to lead Moniteau to a dramatic 21-20 win over Coudersport, the Warriors’ second straight victory after an 0-3 start. Kern drilled the winning point after Aidan Shakley plowed through Coudersport defenders on the first play of Moniteau’s overtime drive for a 10-yard touchdown run.
Shakley finished with 11 carries for 52 yards, and Liam Allison had 12 for 51. Moniteau (2-3, 2-0 District 9, Region 4) quarterback Weston Cook was 3 for 5 for 151 yards, two TDs and an interception, and he ran for 53 yards on six totes.
Ridgway 30, Union/A-C Valley 29 — The Falcon Knights (2-3, 1-1 District 9, Region 3) stormed back from a 20-6 deficit to take a 29-23 lead on Micah Kindel’s 17-yard touchdown run late in the game, but Owen Steger scored on a 1-yard dive with 1:28 left and Ridgway sealed the win moments later with an interception. U/ACV quarterback Andrew Kifer was otherwise solid until that pick, going 13 of 24 for 223 yards and touchdown passes to Nick Ielase (five receptions, 132 yards) and Parker Bish (two receptions for 52 yards, seven carries for 36 yards and a score). Noah Yori had 12 tackles for the Falcon Knights.
North Catholic 32, Burrell 20 — Quarterback Will Toprani and receiver Will Waskiewicz connected three times for touchdowns, turning what had been a tight contest into a small blowout despite the final score. Waskiewicz’s last TD came on a double move and went for 50 yards. The Trojans (2-3, 2-0 Allegheny Seven Conference) got an interception late they returned to the house to seal their second straight victory. No stats were provided from this game.
Greenville 51, Slippery Rock 6 — The Rockets suffered their first loss since August to fall to 3-2. Quarterback John Petras hit top target Logan Schlobohm for a 37-yard touchdown early in the third quarter for the Rockets’ lone score.
Unbeaten Greenville racked up 536 total yards while limiting the Rockets to 64. Cael Thurber threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns while Landon Porter rushed for 121. Aiden Shay was limited to 29 yards rushing for the Rockets.
Pittsburgh Central Catholic 62, Seneca Valley 0 — The Raiders dropped their second straight after a 2-0 start against powerhouse Central Catholic, which led 35-0 after the first quarter. Rory O’Shea had 78 yards on two receptions, and Jameson Babcock ran for 66 yards on three carries for SV (2-2, 0-2 Quad County Conference).
