Hockenberger

John J. “Biff”/“Hock” Hockenberger Jr., 72, of Harmony, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.

Born Oct. 22, 1953, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John “Jack” J. and Pauline (Mahonsak) Hockenberger Sr.

Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Biff served in the Army National Guard, Company B, E-4 rank, of the 28th Signal Battalion. His father was a World War II veteran, and his grandfather fought in the Spanish-American War. After graduating from Bloomsburg State College, Biff took over the family business, Jack Hockenberger Motors. He ran the business for more than 30 years, including 50 years with AAA Towing. He was known for his years of driving a red tow truck and helping countless people. He never hesitated to answer a call from someone stranded or in distress. His kindness and willingness to help left a lasting impression on the community.

He enjoyed his retirement years spending time with friends and family, especially watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. It didn’t matter if it was soccer, volleyball, baseball or track and field; he was their biggest fan.

Biff loved traveling the world with Elaine. He enjoyed seeing new sights, trying new foods and cruising down the rivers of Europe. Living the dream!

Biff was proud to have coached baseball for over 10 years with the former Zelienople-Harmony Athletic Association, even winning the 2001 Mid-County Pony League Baseball Championship. He also enjoyed serving his community by selling raffle tickets for the fire department and working the election polls. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47 years, Elaine (Hontz) Hockenberger; his children, Kelsey (Joseph) Mollura and Michael (Stefanie) Hockenberger; his grandchildren, Joseph, Alaina, Eve and Isaac Mollura; his brother, Howard “Hutch” (Ginger) Hockenberger; and his sister, Mary Lu (Gary) Hockenberger.

HOCKENBERGER — Friends and family of John J. “Biff”/“Hock” Hockenberger Jr., who died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, will be received on Monday, Sept. 28, from 3:30 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 5:30 p.m., at Harmony-Zelienople Global Methodist Church, 123 N. Pittsburgh St., Zelienople, followed by military honors and a meal in the Fellowship Hall.
