A Moon Township man, charged with threatening the lives of his family members and assaulting a police officer, pleaded guilty to terroristic threats in Butler County Court on Wednesday.

Kent C. Bowers, 67, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge before county Judge Timothy McCune.

Bowers was initially charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, four counts of terroristic threats and four counts of harassment after an incident in Lancaster Township on Oct. 6.

Officers from the state police, Lancaster Township, Zelienople and Jackson Township police departments were called to Bowers' house on Scott Ridge Road around noon for a report of a domestic disturbance, according to the criminal complaint.

There, Bower's wife reported that he had grabbed her by her shirt collar and threatened to kill her, as well as other family members at the house and his therapist. He allegedly was intoxicated and had a scalpel.

Bowers had barricaded himself in the bedroom of the home and told police that when he was released from custody he “will finish what he set out to do,” according to the complaint.

During his arrest he allegedly wrapped his legs around the legs of one of the officers and grabbed him by his vest in an attempt to tackle him.

The plea agreement calls for a sentence of probation, fines and restitution, when he is sentenced on June 8.
