A Butler City Council member was found not guilty Thursday of running over a fire hose, a summary offense.

Councilwoman Kathy Kline, 63, of Wayne Street had been cited for an incident during a fire on Center Avenue. She represented herself in the case.

“I’m pleased,” Kline said of the ruling.

Judge Lewis Stoughton presided over the case.

“I think Judge Stoughton understands that it was truly an embarrassing accident and basically just saw it for what it was,” she said.

Kline, council’s director of public safety, previously said that she was looking for a parking spot and did not see the hose, which was not charged with water. At the time, firefighters were battling a fire on Center Avenue in the city.

She had also said the hose was not damaged.

Had Kline been found guilty, she would have been fined $25. In addition, the citation carried other charges that would have added up to $135.
