A Butler man is accused of assaulting a woman and placing his hands around her neck.

Travis Joseph Zaborowski, 36, was charged Monday, Sept. 21, by Butler police with one count of strangulation, a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a misdemeanor count of false imprisonment.

Police said at 7:34 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Fourth Street for an incident in an apartment near the rear of the residence.

Upon arriving, officers made contact with a woman and observed that she was in distress. Officers said she was breathing heavily, struggling to speak and crying in pain.

The woman told police Zaborowski physically assaulted her. While speaking with officers, she demonstrated with a hand motion what he allegedly had done, and officers observed that her pinkie finger was bent and possibly broken.

She told officers that, once he had control of her, he threw her into his bedroom and locked the door.

She also told officers that a woman pulled her hair back and attempted to stab her with a pair of scissors. The woman also reported that her phone, wallet, bank cards, keys and $400 were missing.
