Women, teens vie for 5 crowns

Pageants set at BC3 Saturday

Pageants to determine who will compete in the 2013 Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen competitions will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Butler County Community College''s Succop Theater. The event features 19 candidates competing for five crowns.

Contestants will be judged on interviews, talent, onstage questions and evening wear. Miss Outstanding Teen contestants will model fitness wear. Miss Pennsylvania contestants will model swimsuits.

Pageant directors are Lucy Mudrick and Judy Hughes.

Emcees will be past winners Annie Roselini, Catherine Janisko, Brittany Marcolini, Madison Roth, Emily Doyle and Marielle Roberts McDonald.

There will be performances from Cordray Negley, 2013 Little Miss Butler County, and Lisa Cherry Boyer, 2013 Junior Miss Butler County.

Winners will receive scholarships and will advance to their respective pageants in Pittsburgh.

Contestants and titles include:

Alexis Albaugh, 18, is the daughter of Shawn and Heidi Albaugh of Linesville. She will attend the New York Film Academy in January. She will perform a gymnastics dance to “What a Feeling.” Her platform is the Wounded Warrior Project.Allyson Bowser, 19, is the daughter of Thomas and Sandra Bowser of East Brady. She is a sophomore at Butler County Community College/Geneva College with a major in psychology and a minor in student ministry. She will sing “Only Hope.” Her platform is True Beauty.Stephanie Bracken, 19, is the daughter of Timothy Bracken and Susan Layton of Windber. She is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry and theater arts. She will perform a tap dance to “I'm So Excited.” Her platform is Childhood Obesity: Changing the World One Child at a Time.Alisha Burnett, 20, is the daughter of Randall and Melissa Burnett of Hadley. She is a graduate of Laurel Tech Institute majoring in cosmetology. She will dance to “Skyscraper.” Her platform is Caring for Special Needs Children.Caroline Collins, 19, is the daughter of Robert and Linda Collins of West Middlesex. She is a sophomore at Point Park University majoring in on-camera broadcasting and minoring in multimedia. She will tap dance to “Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.” Her platform is Fighting Child Obesity: Keeping Our Youth Fit and Healthy.Kaitlynne Kline, 18, is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Kline of Carlton. She is a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in political science and minoring in mathematics. She will sing “The Wizard and I.” Her platform is A.W.A.R. E.: Protection Against Skin Cancer.Alyssa Messett, 21, is the daughter of Timothy and Amity Messett of Slippery Rock. She is a senior at Slippery Rock University majoring in business administration-marketing. She will sing “Reflections.” Her platform is Raising Awareness of Macular Degeneration.Ann Oberneder, 19, is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Oberneder of Kittanning. She is a sophomore at Indiana (Pa.) University where she is majoring in political science/pre-law. She will sing “On My Own.” Her platform is Early Cancer Detection.Stephanie Owens, 20, is the daughter of Ronald and Risa Owens of Pittsfield. She is a junior at Gannon University majoring in sport and exercise science/pre-physician assistant. She will play “Turkey in the Straw” on the violin. Her platform is Supporting STEAM to Save the Arts in Education.

Libby Hornstein, 16, is the daughter of Tom and Christy Hornstein of Meadville. She is a junior at Meadville Senior High School. She will sing “Astonishing.” Her platform is Manners Matter: Going Beyond Please and Thank You.Claudia Komondor, 15, is the daughter of Michael and Barbara Komondor of North Hutingdon. She is a freshman at Norwin Senior High School. She will jazz dance to “Orange Colored Sky.” Her platform is Staying Active: Physically and Mentally.Joelle Padgett, 15, is the daughter of Mike and Christa Padgett of Avonmore. She attends West Shamokin Junior-Senior High School. She will sing “A Thousand Years.” Her platform is Bullying in Real Life.Hannah Piston, 16, is the daughter of Drs. Robert and Kathy Piston of Hermitage. She is a sophomore at Hickory High School. She will play an excerpt from “Naderman #5” on the harp. Her platform is Concussion Awareness.BreeOnna Springer, 16, is the daughter of Don and Tamra Springer of Ligonier. She is a sophomore at Interiochen Center For the Arts. She will perform a lyrical dance to “To Love You More.” Her platform is Adopt A Family.Erica Williams, 18, is the daughter of Craig and Alice Williams of Wexford. She is a junior at North Allegheny High School. She will perform a lyrical acrobatic dance to “Ave Maria.” Her platform is Life Begins With You: Educating Ourselves about Organ Donation.

Brianna Herr, 18, is the daughter of Dan and B.J. Herr of Butler. She is in eighth grade at Lincoln Park Performing Art School. She will sing “If My Friends Could See Me Now.” Her platform is Dyslexia Awareness.Samantha McKain, 15, is the daughter of Rick and Janey McKain of Butler. She is a sophomore at Lincoln Center Performing Arts School. She will sing “Hero.” Her platform is Bullying Leads to Bullicide.Amber Rivers, 13, is the daughter of Thomas and Tricia Rivers of Butler. She attends Butler Junior High School. She will sing “Man in the Mirror.” Her platform is Dyslexia.Clare Stevenson, 16, is the daughter of Bryan and Hollie Stevenson of Linesville. She is a junior at Butler Junior Senior High School. She will perform a musical theater dance to “One Rock & Roll Too Many.” Her platform is Understanding Alzheimer's.
