PITTSBURGH — A rare metal bow ornament from the USS Pennsylvania will soon be on display at the Soldiers & Sailors Military Museum and Memorial in Pittsburgh.

The 8-by-17-foot ornament has not been on display for at least a dozen years.

The ornament, which includes the inscription "Pluribus Unum," will be put on a concrete base outside the museum so people can see it up close and touch it. It was made at a foundry in nearby Homestead.

The ornament was made for the USS Pennsylvania, an armored cruiser manufactured in 1899. The ship was part of the Great White Fleet sent around the world by President Theodore Roosevelt.
