Beef management series slated in Feb.

A series of meetings for area beef producers will be held on three consecutive Wednesdays next month: Feb. 8, 15 and 22.

The NW Beef Management Workshop Series will be held at the Wesley Grange, about one mile north of Interstate 80.

Each session will begin at 7 p.m.

• The first session will focus on “Cows That Make a Living for You” and will feature Dr. Keith Burgett and Bryan Burgett of Burgett Angus.

• “Green … Grass and Money Making, the Right Connection” will be the focus of the second session conducted by Cheryl Fairbairn, Penn State Extension educator and co-owner of Lisnageer Farm.

• The series will conclude with a discussion on “Alternatives for Extending the Grazing Season” with Jeff McCutcheon of Ohio State Extension.

Registration deadline for the workshop is Feb. 6. The registration fee is $10 per person for each session and includes materials and refreshments.

For a copy of the program brochure and a registration form, contact the Butler County Extension office at 724-287-4761, Ext. 222.

This material is submitted by Donna Zang, extension director, and the staff of the Penn State Extension office at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center complex.
