PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Planning Commission wants architects to jazz up the outside appearance of the $290 million arena they're designing for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The commission must take its final vote to approve the arena design on April 22. But on Tuesday, they were telling HOK Sport officials the design was too flat and lifeless.

One of the project's architects, Wayne London, says he's confident the design can be tweaked to satisfy planners.
