Hampton teachers OK 5-year deal
Teachers in the Hampton Township School District in Allegheny County approved a new five-year contract, and the school board is scheduled to vote on the deal Monday night.
No terms of the contract have been released.
The last contract in the district just north of Pittsburgh expired June 30.
The union and school board have been negotiating since January 2007. The teachers threatened to strike in November but never walked out.
About 190 of Hampton's 220 union teachers voted. A union spokesman said they "overwhelmingly" approved the deal but said the union will not release the vote totals until the school board votes on the deal.
