WEST MIFFLIN — The parent company of Kennywood amusement park and West Mifflin have settled their dispute over the suburban borough's amusement tax.
Kennywood Entertainment sued the borough in 2005, claiming the park is the only entertainment business in West Mifflin forced to pay the tax. The borough says Kennywood owes more than $1 million.
The settlement reached on Monday calls for Kennywood to pay the borough a portion of the taxes the park didn't collect from patrons in 2006 and 2007.
Borough council president William Welsh says West Mifflin, in return, will cap its amusement tax at 5 percent or 50 cents per ticket, whichever is less.
