Advisory lifted for 7 beaches in Erie
ERIE — Presque Isle State Park officials have lifted swimming advisories for seven beaches.
The advisory was lifted Tuesday after tests found a lower level of E. coli, a bacteria found in feces, in the water.
A day earlier, officials issued the season's first swimming advisory because of high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water.
The advisory was issued because water samples taken at the beaches contained between 236 and 439 E. coli colonies per milliliter in the water.
Advisories are posted when the counts exceed 235 colonies. Swimming is still permitted during advisories. Swimming is restricted when the counts exceed 999 colonies.
