Dad convicted of murder in scalding death
HARRISBURG — The father of a disabled Harrisburg girl who died after being scalded in a bathtub was convicted of third-degree murder because he didn't seek help for more than a week.
A Dauphin County jury on Wednesday also convicted Shawn Lockett Sr., 32, of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of conspiracy.
Lockett could be sent to prison for 20 to 40 years when he is sentenced July 24.
Ten-year-old Quiniece Lockett, who was blind and had cerebral palsy, was accidentally placed in a scalding bath by her father's companion in April 2007.
The adults did not call for medical help until they found the girl dead eight days later, Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean McCormack said Thursday.
