2 brothers drown in reservoir

Pgh. man tried to rescue his sibling

WARREN, Pa. — A Pittsburgh man and his brother are dead after one tried to save the other from drowning in a reservoir.

State police in Warren County say 21-year-old Vincent Pitcher swam out from the shore to save his 19-year-old sibling Stephen Pitcher on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Stephen Pitcher moments earlier had jumped about 75 feet from a bridge into the Allegheny Reservoir and appeared to be injured when his brother swam out.

Police say as Vincent Pitcher tried to pull his brother to shore, both men disappeared under the water.

The county coroner says the bodies of the brothers from Scott Township were recovered about seven hours later.

The incident happened in Mead Township, about 110 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
