Sports center closes for rail work
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh's interactive sports center is closed for a year until the Carnegie Science Center completes construction of a new facility to house the popular exhibit.
The SportsWorks closed Sunday to make way for a $435 million light rail project.
The exhibits, including several virtual sports games, are expected to reopen in fall 2009 after construction is completed on a new building adjacent to the science center.
A trampoline bounce and Orbitron, a human gyroscope, will be moved to the science center's atrium and remain open throughout the year.
