PITTSBURGH — A suburban Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to 32 years in federal prison for a series of armed bank robberies in 2005.

A judge on Wednesday also sentenced 20-year-old Laquon Terrance Robinson of Moon Township to five years of supervised release.

Prosecutors say that in March and April 2005, Robinson robbed four banks in Western Pennsylvania. The banks included a National City Bank in Pittsburgh, Parkvale Savings Bank in Heidelburg, Sky Bank in Aliquippa and Northwest Savings Bank in Carnegie.

Prosecutors say on each occasion, Robinson showed a firearm and ordered everyone in the bank to the floor. They say Robinson stole more than $33,000.

PITTSBURGH — Humane officials say they removed more than 110 animals, including dozens of farm animals from a Ross Township home.Kathy Hecker of Animal Friends says several dogs, ducks, chickens, rabbits, goats and about two dozen cats were in the basement and closets of the two-bedroom house.Hecker says antiquated township laws allow residents to house farm animals, provided they have proper living conditions. Hecker says that doesn't mean a linen closet, where she found three rabbits and a kitten.The owner says she doesn't think she has too many animals and insists she properly cares for them.No charges have been filed.
