Boil advisory extended through holiday weekend

UPDATE (3:00 p.m. 8/31/2018)

The Foxburg Water and Sewer Authority has extended their boil water advisory through Monday due to a pump failure and at least one water line leak.

A pump failed and one line leak was repaired, but crews suspect a second leak occurred, said Gwen Atwood, authority secretary/treasurer.

While work on the repair may be finish on Sunday, according to Atwood, the advisory was extended to Monday because the authority is unsure of how the lab will process water samples given the Labor Day holiday.

The state Department of Environmental Protection, which was notified about the problems, and are advising the authority on how long the advisory is to remain in effect.

The advisory was issued Thursday afternoon “due to a lack of positive water pressure,” Atwood said. “They found a leak. The pumps quit. They're looking for a second possible leak."

Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District also canceled classes for Friday due to the advisory.
