Reclamation Brewing seeking new location

Landlord won't renew lease

Reclamation Brewing Company announced on its Facebook page Friday that it is actively seeking a new location.

According to the post, the business' landlord decided not to renew its lease after the Jan. 30 fire that burned a neighboring business and caused smoke and water damage to Reclamation.

Ben Smith, Reclamation co-owner and the mayor of Butler, said the owners are looking for a new location for the brewery, with hopes to stay in town and possibly even upgrade in scale to potentially add to the business' offerings.

“We'd just like to help the city, and we made a good customer base where we are,” he said. “Now that we have the opportunity to start anew, we have some things in mind we were already planning.”

Reclamation moved into its location at 221 South Main St. in 2015, where it brewed and served beer on-site, served food and hosted live entertainment and events.

RB Cigar Bar and Speakeasy, located at 201 South Main St., is owned by the same group that owns Reclamation Brewing Company. The business is still open, and according to a Facebook post by Reclamation Brewing, the speakeasy has cans and draught pours of RBC beer and other cocktails and selections.

Smith said Reclamation's owners have kept staff members on the payroll even though it has been closed since the fire, and they plan to bring the employees to the eventual new location.

“We hope to keep the staff members,” Smith said. “We actually kept them on payroll and, at least for the time being, and have been able to provide them income in hopes of keeping them and help with the process of moving.”
