STATE COLLEGE — The massive winter storm that caused blizzard conditions in the Midwest brought significant snowfall to northern parts of Pennsylvania, closing schools and complicating commutes.

The National Weather Service in State College says Elimsport in Wyoming County received 7 inches of snow but most of the state was changing over to sleet and freezing rain as temperatures warmed.

Snow totals between 4 and 6 inches were reported in northeastern Pennsylvania, where schools were closed and delays stretched south and west.

Dozens of schools were delayed in southwestern Pennsylvania, mostly in rural areas.
