HARRISBURG — The former personnel director for Pennsylvania's House Democrats is set to plead guilty in a wide-ranging probe involving legislative bonuses.

Earl Mosley will plead guilty Wednesday in Dauphin County Court along with six other defendants, according to his attorney, Matthew Gover.

The 54-year-old Mosley will plead guilty to two counts of conflict of interest and one count of conspiracy related to his alleged involvement in directing bonus payments to himself and other staffers.

Four other defendants are set for a jury trial scheduled to begin Jan. 19.

The charges come amid a wide ranging probe by Attorney General Tom Corbett.

ERIE — A state appeals court overturned a Detroit-area woman's 9- to 18-year prison sentence for killing her newborn daughter, finding the trial judge abused his discretion.Teri Rhodes, 21, of Commerce Township in Oakland County, Mich., pleaded guilty in August 2008 to manslaughter in the August 2007 death. Rhodes was a volleyball player at Mercyhurst College. She hid her pregnancy and gave birth in a campus apartment.Erie County Judge William Cunningham's sentence was harsher than Rhodes' attorney and prosecutors expected.The Superior Court panel said Thursday Cunningham "may have prejudged this case or reached its decision at sentencing on the basis of improper considerations."Rhodes has been free on bond.
