HARRISBURG — The candidates in Pennsylvania's Democratic primary for U.S. Senate took their duel to television.

U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak began airing his first ad Tuesday, touting his accomplishments as a Navy vice admiral and emphasizing he's not a "career politician."

The fifth-term incumbent Arlen Specter first aired his own ad April 14. On Tuesday, he began airing a new ad attacking Sestak as "No Show Joe" for missing more votes than any other Pennsylvania congressman last year.

The two-term suburban Philadelphia congressman said he missed some votes while traveling the state to decide whether to challenge Specter and also missed some votes while his father was dying.

Specter is running as a Democrat after switching parties last year.

The primary is May 18.

PHILADELPHIA — A suburban Philadelphia swim club that filed for bankruptcy in the wake of accusations of racial bias soon could have a new owner.According to a filing last week in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Philadelphia, the Artisans Order of Mutual Protection, a fraternal society and insurance business, offered $1 million for the Valley Club's 10.5-acre property.The Huntingdon Valley club revoked the memberships of 56 mostly black and Hispanic day campers last summer, saying there were too many children and many couldn't swim. The club filed for bankruptcy in November following discrimination lawsuits, a U.S. Department of Justice suit and a critical state report.Bankruptcy trustee Terry P. Dershaw is quoted in the filing as calling the $1 million price "fair and reasonable."
