PITTSBURGH — The Coast Guard said an auxiliary patrol rescued a family whose boat got caught in a swift current on the Allegheny River.

They said the boat was being carried very close to a dam on the river Thursday night.

Rescuers pulled the husband, wife, child and two small dogs out of the boat before it got to the dam. The boat was towed back to shore.

No injuries were reported.

PITTSBURGH — A 2-foot bayonet is missing from a statue outside the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Pittsburgh.Curator Michael Kraus said Thursday the 4-pound bronze bayonet was broken off the Soldier at Rest statue's musket outside the front of the memorial. It will only bring about $40 if sold for scrap, but the replacement cost could be about $10,000.Police are reviewing security camera footage and they hope publicity will bring forward a tipster. A $2,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to recovery.

PITTSBURGH — A 21-year-old Pittsburgh man is jailed on attempted homicide and other charges for a 15-mile police chase that injured three law enforcement officers.Police said officers were chasing Sean Wright because they had a warrant for his arrest for allegedly bringing drugs and a gun into a hospital where he was being treated last week after a shooting.Wright slipped away from the hospital, and police began chasing him.
