Woman accused of making false alarms
Fourteen calls to the Butler County 911 call center in less than two hours netted a county woman the ride she was seeking.
But it was a police car, not an ambulance that picked up Shoshanna Richter on Wednesday evening.
According to court records, Richter, 35, had been released from a shelter earlier in the day. She called 911 multiple times and successfully got an ambulance to drive her to Butler Memorial Hospital.
But after she was released she continued to call the emergency dispatch system another 14 times, seeking a ride from an ambulance to various locations in the county, but she had no medical or legitimate complaints, according to a criminal affidavit filed by city police.
Richter is charged with making false alarms to agencies of public safety, a first-degree misdemeanor, and harassment. She is in the county prison unable to post $5,000 bail.
Steve Bicehouse, director of county emergency services, said it is unusual for officials there to report 911 callers to police.
“We only do that when there’s a clear cut abuse of the system,” he said.
