PITTSBURGH — Activists want Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. to charge three white Pittsburgh police officers accused of wrongfully beating a black teen on Jan. 12.

DA spokesman Mike Manko says the prosecutor won't investigate the case until the FBI finishes a civil rights investigation into the beating of 18-year-old Jordan Miles, a student at a performing arts high school in the city.

Miles, who is black, says the officers assumed he was a troublemaker because of his race and beat him without cause.

A group calling itself the Alliance for Police Accountability confronted Manko at the county courthouse Thursday.

The city is conducting an internal investigation.
