HARRISBURG — A state Senate committee plans a hearing into a company that provided alerts to the Office of Homeland Security regarding terror threats.

Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee Chairwoman Lisa Baker, a Republican from Luzerne County, said Friday that she's concerned people were targeted for exercising their rights of free speech and assembly.

Her committee is scheduling a Sept. 27 hearing in Harrisburg regarding the Institute of Terrorism Research and Response. The Philadelphia-based company has a deal worth more than $100,000 to provide regular updates on threats to the state's critical infrastructure.
