Transit agencies that serve Pittsburgh and Johnstown were Pennsylvania's biggest winners in a $776 million federal grant program.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County will receive $22.7 million to cover part of the $33 million it needs to buy 53 new buses. The Cambria County Transit Authority is receiving $10 million.

The money can only be used for capital improvements or purchases. It cannot be used to erase the projected $47 million deficit that is prompting service cuts for the Port Authority.

Pittsburgh police are searching for the suspect in a bizarre attack that featured brass knuckles used against a man whose motorcycle had stalled on a busy street.Police say a man jumped out of a Toyota on Friday evening and beat the victim whom police are not identifying with the brass knuckles. Police say the victim's motorcycle had stalled on Banksville Road. The victim was waiting for help to arrive when he was attacked. Police said the victim was treated for a concussion and other cuts and bruises.
