HARRISBURG — Political observers say Democratic candidate Dan Onorato won the final gubernatorial debate on technical points, but that he failed to weaken Republican front-runner Tom Corbett.

Onorato, the elected executive of Allegheny County, and Corbett, the state attorney general, squared off for the third and last time in Philadelphia on Monday night.

On Tuesday, pollster Terry Madonna at Franklin & Marshall College says Onorato is the stronger debater. But he said the election is Corbett's to lose unless Onorato airs a "game-changing" TV ad or something else that startles his supporters and inspires them to vote on Nov. 2.

Christopher Borick, a professor and pollster at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, said Onorato presented himself better in the debate, but that Corbett could justifiably be satisfied with his own performance.
