PITTSBURGH — Police in Pittsburgh say a man fired a shotgun at his landlord, sparking a standoff that ended when the man apparently killed himself.

A Pittsburgh TV station reported the man's landlord was trying to collect rent Monday night when the tenant pointed a shotgun at her. The woman told police she was able to push it away as he fired.

Emergency workers found a fire on the building's second floor that forced other residents to evacuate.

The body of the suspected gunman was discovered by a police SWAT team.

Authorities did not release the man's identity.
