Single vehicle crash closes Route 268 in Fairview Twp.

A portion of Route 268 in Fairview Township between Oak and Trimbur roads is closed this morning after a one-vehicle crash sheared off a utility pole. No one was injured in the 4:50 a.m.wreck.

“There are power line blocking the road,” said Chicora Fire Chief Cody Craig.

He estimated the road would be closed until at least 9 a.m.

A West Penn Power crew arrived about 6:30 a.m. and is working to repair the broken pole. There was no immediate power outage due to the wreck but a company official reported that residents in the area would be without electrical service while the repair work is being done.

Karns City Area Schools also alerted parents this morning that bus pick-up times could be delayed due to the road closure.

The crash happened when a pickup truck traveling eastbound on Route 268 struck the pole. State police are investigating the crash, but an accident report was not immediately available.
