Cottage to show assassination flag
WASHINGTON — President Abraham Lincoln’s Washington cottage, where he escaped pressures of the White House during the Civil War, is placing a special flag on display to mark the anniversary of the 16th president’s assassination.
Beginning Monday, the cottage will display one of the five U.S. flags hanging at Ford’s Theatre. It was used to cushion the wounded president’s head.
