Anyone who lives or travels to the South Side, knows Monroe Street is closed due to 2 bridges deteriorating condition. To further complicate the matter, due to the Wayne Street Bridge construction, the street below is also closed, so the only way we can get to the South Side is to take the Wayne Street bridge.

My question is why the light at Wayne Street and Center Avenue hasn't been changed so that it is longer when you come across the bridge? Traffic gets backed up the entire length of that old decrepit bridge, clear over to Main Street, and frankly, I don't want to sit, along with all that traffic on a bridge that is ready to cave in. Can that bridge sustain all that extra weight?

And I just read about the stimulus money that Butler is getting - why no money to fix the bridges on Monroe Street? Are the people and businesses of the South Side less important than a Multi-Modal center??
