PITTSBURGH — A new leader for Greek Orthodox believers in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia has been enthroned.

Metropolitan Savas, 54, officially took office Thursday night at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

The leader is the Greek Orthodox equivalent of a bishop, and he heads the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh.

The new bishop used to direct the social media outreach of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and his enthronement was streamed live on the Web and he also greeted Facebook friends worldwide during the service.
