REYNOLDSVILLE — Police in Western Pennsylvania say an elderly woman was killed when part of a deer struck by another vehicle went through her windshield and hit her.

State police in Jefferson County say Rosemary Bower, 70, of Brookville was traveling east on Route 830 in Washington Township at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday when a westbound car struck a deer.

The deer went airborne and hit Bower’s windshield, and the impact cut the animal in half and sent the head and shoulders into the car, killing Bower.
