Herb, Obama did not spend $5 trillion in his first 100 days. You even said so in your post. Spending money and "intending" to spend money are two different things.

He has not spent that much money in his first 100 days. That is not an opinion, that is a fact. You have even admitted to it in your post.

Also, the bailout is not a giveaway. Much of it is in loans at 5% interest. So, Obama could actually make money for the government from that "bailout". The stimulus money can and will stimulate the economy, which will lead to more economic activity and more revenue for the government. Spending money to make money.

Here is Article I, Section 8, Clause 18

"To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof. "

Why do you think there has been no serious court challenge to the bailouts and stimulus package? It is because Congress is perfectly within its Constitutional power in doing so according to Article I, Section 8. If you think the bailouts and stimulus packages, file a lawsuit and see how long it takes before you are laughed out of court.
