PITTSBURGH — The attorney for state Sen. Jane Orie wants a special prosecutor to investigate alleged leaks from a grand jury.

William Costopoulos filed the motion Friday, suggesting information about Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin was leaked by the prosecution in the Jane Orie case.

Jane Orie, 50, and her sister, Janine, are charged with misusing political staff to do campaign work. The senator also faces charges she perjured herself and used forged documents in a trial last year. Orie Melvin has not been charged.

Judge Jeffrey Manning referred the request for a special prosecutor to Judge Joseph James, who is supervising the grand jury.
