PITTSBURGH — A tow-truck driver has been charged with homicide by vehicle after a Saturday afternoon crash.

Police say 50-year-old Duane C. Woodson of Pittsburgh crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Christine Beilstein, of Plum, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 9-year-old son was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and was in critical condition with a severe head injury late Saturday night.

Police said Woodson attempted to flee the scene on foot after the crash but was apprehended.

A judge denied bail and Woodson was being held in Allegheny County Jail.

ALLENTOWN — Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania said a woman walking her dog was bitten by a rabid fox last week.Officials said the woman was attacked Tuesday near an apartment complex on the east side of Allentown.The fox bit her ankle and then her hand when she tried to get it off.City officials said authorities killed the fox, which was rabid.The woman was treated and will be given shots over the next few weeks.She said that she was trying to protect her dog.A state game commission official said rabies is not unusual in foxes.
