To answer your other question, yes, i am in favor of longevity as a small component of salary increases. The teachers already have that, and it's more than a small component. I am more in favor of merit based pay. But the union won't allow it. I am in favor of getting rid of tenure. But the union won't allow that either. I am in favor of poor teachers getting shown the door, but once again, there is that union protecting the sub par at the expense of the exceptional.

Lets address this "dave makes so much more than SBCSD teachers that you seem to be so fixated on. I compared my salary to the 2006-07 salaries of the SBCSD. 79 of those salaries were higher than mine. That does not factor in the difference in benefit costs. If that is factored in(after all, its a real number), then that number changes to over 100. Now, if i were to further break that down by pay per day worked, then it would get really lopsided. If i look at length of service Vs pay, then ALL teachers with equal length of service make more than i do. Again, i am not sure why you are so fixated on what i earn. I keep complaining because the teachers union is being unrealistic. It seems a lot of people(other than you and the teachers union)agree with me.

I was out and about today and i saw a member of our school board. I thanked that member and offered my encouragement to not cave.
