4-run 3rd inning lifts Freedom

FLORENCE, Ky. — The Florence Freedom used a four-run third inning to erase a 2-0 deficit en route to a 7-3 Frontier League victory over the visiting Slippery Rock Sliders Friday.

Slippery Rock (6-9) outhit the Freedom 10-9, but the Sliders were charged with three errors.

Cy Donald had three hits for the Sliders, Casey Bowling had two singles and two runs scored and Slippery Rock High School graduate Jason Curry contributed two base hits and an RBI.

Florence (7-9) received seven combined hits, four RBI and four runs scored from Greg Stone, Reggie Watson and Beau Blacken.

Slippery Rock starter Zac Cline was tagged with the loss after pitching 5Z\c innings, striking out three and walking four. He surrendered six runs on four hits.

Matt Keller and Kory Bucklew made relief appearances for the Sliders.

Florence's Dane Mason earned the win, striking out two, walking one and giving up three runs on nine hits in six innings.
