Sliders find first 2-game win streak

TRAVERSE CITY, MI — The Slippery Rock Sliders won two consecutive games for the first time in their brief history with victories of 7-5 and 6-1 over the Traverse City Beach Bums on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

D.J. Dixon led Sunday's victory with three hits, including a three-run home run. Slippery Rock scored four runs in the top of the third inning and never trailed again.

Judson Smith struck out four and walked five in seven innings pitched for the win. Chris Rubio pitched two shutout innings of relief to close the game.

In Saturday's contest, the first five hitters in Slippery Rock's lineup collected two hits, with Nate Yoho leading the way with two singles, two runs scored and a pair of RBI.

Kory Bucklew earned the win after pitching six innings with one strikeout and one walk, giving up just three hits and no runs.

Greg Lasinski earned his eighth save by pitching three innings, striking out one and walking one.

The Sliders (12-36) return home to open a three-game series tonight against the Kalamazoo Kings at 7:05 p.m. at Critchfield Park.
