Kings reign supreme over Sliders

SLIPPERY ROCK — Kalamazoo staked itself to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and rolled to a 11-5 victory over the Slippery Rock Sliders Wednesday.

Trailing 8-1, the Sliders (13-38) plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull to within three runs, but the Kings (26-26) answered with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull away.

Kalamazoo rapped out 16 hits in the game while the Sliders had nine in a losing cause.

Nate Yoho had a solo home run while Anthony Albano had two hits and an RBI to lead Slippery Rock, which had eight different players record hits.

Kyle Kmiecik had three hits and three RBI to lead the Kings, who had four players with two hits apiece.

With the win, Kings' starter Jeff Long improved his record to 7-3. Nick Tracy was charged with the loss as his record fell to 0-7.

The Sliders return to action for a 7:05 p.m. contest at Florence (Ky.). Their next home game will be at 7:05 p.m. Saturday against the Chillicothe (Ohio) Paints.
