Sliders can't hold on vs. Bolts in loss
CRESTWOOD, Ill. — The Slippery Rock Sliders held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning Tuesday, but the host Windy City ThunderBolts then scored four runs and followed up with a three-run eighth to help put the finishing touches on a 9-3 victory.
Right fielder Jon Dandridge led the Sliders with three hits, including a double and a triple, while D.J. Dixon included a double in his two hits and one RBI.
Bernie Dennis had a two-run single to help the Sliders' 13- hit attack.
Starting pitcher Nick Tracy (0-8) took the loss after pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on six hits and recording three walks and three strikeouts.
The visiting Sliders (15-41) play the ThunderBolts again at 8:05 p.m. today.
