Big inning helps Bolts drop Sliders

SLIPPERY ROCK — Windy City scored six third-inning runs en route to a 13-7 victory over the Slippery Rock Sliders Tuesday.

The ThunderBolts (44-18) took a 6-1 lead in the third inning, but the Sliders answered with four runs in the bottom half to trim the deficit to one run.

Windy City, however, added one run in the fourth and two in each of the next three innings to open a 13-5 advantage.

Bernie Dennis had a double and three RBI, Bryan Vickers had a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Anthony Albano had two hits, including an RBI and a run scored to lead Slippery Rock.

Windy City's Mike Coles had a single, a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI to highlight a 15-hit attack. Wes Long added three hits and two RBI as the ThunderBolts had six players with two or more hits.

Amos Ramon (1-0) earned the win while the Sliders' Judson Smith saw his record fall to 1-3.

Slippery Rock (15-47) will wrap up a three-game series with a 12:05 p.m. matinee today before playing a three-game stand at Rockford (Ill.) Thursday through Saturday.
