Sliders defeated, 5-1

SAUGET, Ill. — Erik Dessau improved his record to 12-1, limiting the Slippery Rock Sliders to one run and six hits over seven innings in the Gateway Grizzlies' 5-1 victory in Frontier League baseball action Wednesday.

Dessau did not issue a walk as Gateway moved to 29 games over. 500 (53-24).

Kory Bucklew struck out seven in seven innings for Slippery Rock (21-56), but was charged with the loss.

Bryan Vickers and Cy Donald each had a double and single and Jason Curry also doubled for the Sliders, whose lone run was driven in by Casey Bowling.

Ryan Sullivan had two hits, including a home run, and Jeff Vincent added two RBI for the Grizzlies.

The teams will square off again Thursday with the Sliders' Zac Cline (7-5) scheduled to face the Grizzlies' Toro Trevino (9-4).
