Sliders continue slide
WASHINGTON, Pa.— Robbie Knapp produced a run-scoring double in the seventh inning and eventually scored on a wild pitch, giving the Washington Wild Things a 5-4 win over the Slippery Rock Sliders Friday night.
The victory was the Wild Things' third straight in a five-game series that concludes with night games Saturday and Sunday.
Knapp's double snapped a 3-all tie. The Wild Things' first baseman had three hits on the night.
The Sliders (28-65) scored three runs in the top of the first inning as Bryan Vickers delivered a three-run double down the left-field line. Slippery Rock didn't score again until the ninth, when Cy Donald crossed the plate on an infield error.
With two runners on, however, Jesse Acosta struck out to end the game.
Jason Cline took the loss in relief for Slippery Rock. Kevin Holley had two of the Sliders' five hits.
